1. Standing in tadasana, jump the feet three to four feet apart and extend the arms with the palms facing down
2. Take the shoulders back in towards the spine and engage the quadriceps
3. Turn the front foot out to a 90˚ angle and turn the back foot in at a 45˚ angle, re-spread the toes
4. Make sure that the front knee is inline with the ankle
5. Rotate the torso towards the side of the front leg (right if the right leg is front, left if the left leg is front)
6. Turn the torso farther and place the opposite hand on the inner or outer side of the foot depending on how far the body will stretch
7. Keep the hips square and even and keep the tailbone in the correct placement
8. Using the hand, not already on the ground, take the rib cage and open it out towards the leg
9. Take the same hand and arm and raise it up, staking it on top of the other shoulder
10. Raise the head and look up at the hand
11. Take five breathes in the asana
12. On the exhalation, come up and rotate to the other side and repeat
